Dental implants provide a reliable way to replace missing or broken teeth. Dental implants are a proven long-term replacement option that provide natural looking crowns and function. Implants provide a multitude of options and we will work with you to choose the option that best helps you achieve your best smile.

Why Implants?

Straumann Dental Implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth—and for good reason. They’re designed to look, feel, and function just like natural teeth, offering a number of important advantages:

  • Natural Function & Appearance
Implants are anchored securely into the jawbone, providing a firm and stable foundation for a custom crown that looks and feels like your natural tooth.

  • Long-Lasting & Durable
With proper care, dental implants can last for decades—often a lifetime—making them a smart, long-term investment in your oral health.

  • No Impact on Surrounding Teeth
Unlike bridges or partial dentures, implants don’t rely on neighboring teeth for support. This means your healthy teeth stay untouched and preserved.

  • Improved Comfort & Confidence
Because they become part of your jaw, implants eliminate the discomfort and slipping that can come with removable dentures—allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

  • Preservation of Bone & Facial Structure
Implants help prevent the bone loss that typically follows tooth loss, preserving your facial shape and jaw strength over time.

Whether you’re missing one tooth or several, dental implants offer a reliable, natural-looking solution that supports both oral health and self-confidence.

WHAT TO EXPECT THE DAY OF YOUR IMPLANT SURGERY

We're delighted you’ve chosen us for your dental implant treatment. Our goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for from start to finish. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our front desk team, who will assist with check‑in, help you complete any remaining paperwork—including updated medical history and consent forms—and verify your insurance information, if applicable. We’ll also review any prescriptions Dr. Jensen has provided, send them to your preferred pharmacy, process your payment, and schedule your first follow‑up appointment for two weeks post-procedure to monitor your healing progress.
Once everything is in order, a team member will escort you to the surgical suite. We’ll ensure you’re comfortable in the chair and offer a blanket, heating pad and an eye mask if you’d like. Before beginning, we’ll review the planned procedure once more and answer any final questions. Local anesthesia will be administered to keep you numb and relaxed throughout. Implant placement typically takes about 45 to 60 minutes per implant. Dr. Jensen will perform the surgery carefully and precisely, keeping you informed throughout. Many patients are pleasantly surprised by how smooth and comfortable the procedure feels.
After the implant is placed, we’ll go over your post-operative care instructions in detail. You’ll receive guidance on what to expect in the hours and days ahead—how to manage swelling and discomfort, maintain oral hygiene, and choose appropriate foods during recovery. You’ll also receive a printed copy of these instructions to take home for easy reference.
At your two-week follow-up visit, we’ll assess the healing process and address any questions or concerns you may have. We’ll then schedule a second follow-up appointment approximately two and a half months later. At this visit, we’ll take an x-ray to confirm that proper integration has occurred and that you’re ready to return to your general dentist for final crown placement. We’ll also send a detailed letter, the x-ray, and implant components to your general dentist so they’re fully prepared to complete your treatment.
Please remember that our team is always just a phone call away if any concerns arise after your appointment. Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are our top priorities. Thank you for trusting us with your care—we look forward to helping you smile with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my insurance cover an implant? It really depends on your plan. If your plan has implant benefits, we typically see coverage from 35% up to 60% depending on the company and employer plan. Unfortunately, Medicare plans have stopped offering covering implants.

If I'm getting a dental implant, why do I still need a crown? This is a very common question! A dental implant and a dental crown are two different parts of your new tooth.

Think of it like building a house:

  • The implant is the foundation. It's the small titanium post that is placed in your jawbone to replace the root of your missing tooth.

  • The crown is the part you see above the gums. It's the custom-made tooth that attaches to the implant so you can smile, bite, and chew naturally.

The implant provides the support, but it doesn't look or function like a tooth on its own. Once your implant has healed and fused with the bone, we'll send you back to your general dentist for a custom crown on top to complete your smile. Together, the implant and crown work as a complete tooth replacement.

How do I take care of my implant? While dental implants can't develop cavities, the gums and bone around them can become infected if plaque is allowed to build up. Good oral hygiene (including using a soft bristle toothbrush twice daily and flossing), regular maintenance visits, and avoiding habits like smoking or teeth grinding can significantly improve the long-term success of your implant. If you notice bleeding, swelling, or looseness around your implant, contact our office promptly.
